Introducing Hannah Prior

In March GBM Council appointed Hannah Prior to serve a two-year Envision Apprenticeship in France. Hannah is a member of Netley Christian Fellowship, and her church has worked closely with Hannah to prepare to send her to serve in France. Hannah needs your prayers as she serves the Lord in Paris, a city of great needs and opportunities.

Hannah grew up in a Christian home in Portsmouth, and became a Christian at the age of eight. After university she worked as a teacher, before a period of ill health intervened. She has learnt to depend on God through some challenging times, and this has given her a greater desire to serve him.

Having studied French as part of her degree, France has been on her heart for many years. She spent some time living there after university and has served on several short-term mission teams.

Volunteering with Friends International and at a multi-cultural community centre, God led her to friends from many different cultures and nationalities, including France.  Hannah finds it easy to strike up conversation with people, and she has many friends in the Paris area who she looks forward to seeing again and continuing to build friendships with.

Her home church, Netley Christian Fellowship near Southampton, are sending her to serve on a two-year Envision Apprenticeship (known as a ‘stagiaire’ in France) through GBM, working with the Église Protestante Évangélique du Pré Saint-Gervais, in partnership with France Mission.

This church is led by Johnny and Rachel Vaughan, and the church is in need of additional workers. Hannah will settle in the area and get involved with local activities (e.g. sports and music). She hopes to offer the people she meets the opportunity to find out more about the Bible. She will also be encouraging church members, particularly the women in the congregation, by meeting up with them to pray and read the Bible together.

She also hopes to get a small part-time job teaching English. The community of Le Pré sits just outside the ‘periferique’ motorway, in the north east of the city. In an area of one square mile there is a population of 18,000, drawn from sixty one different nationalities.

If you would like to support Hannah, please contact GBM Mission Centre asking for a standing order form and (if you pay tax) a gift aid form.

“…For several years now we have recognised our need for, and prayed for, someone with an evangelistic gifting who could be active in making friends in the local community. Hannah's application form described exactly the kind of person we believe God could use powerfully to bring new people into contact with the gospel and into the church.”
