Nearly Ready For GBM Annual Mission Day

With only two weeks to go until our Annual Mission Day, we are excited to report that the refurbishment of our London venue, Friends House, is nearly complete. GBM staff were shown round the large meeting house now known as The Light , and the final parts of the seating were being finished.

Regulars at our Annual Meetings in previous years will remember the old layout of the hall, with galleries very much separate from the main seating below. Under the new layout, you can walk up steps on all sides from the floor to the top of the balcony. The floor has been raised slightly to make it fully wheelchair accessible. Plush new green seats have been installed that are a considerable improvement on what went before. The major addition, though, is the roof, which is a striking new architectural feature, rising in a large pyramid to a skylight.

Back to News…

Do plan to join us on Saturday 25 October for our Annual Mission Day. We look forward to some great presentations from a wide range of missionaries. These start at 11am, and run through to 3pm, so come early and plan your day well. (There is more than just the church delegates meeting in the morning!) At 3pm we have our main multimedia presentation ‘Fruit that will last’, looking at the goal of mission: how we make disciples and churches that will grow and spread once the missionary has moved on. In the final session we look forward to ministry from former missionary Sukesh Pabari. Full details here.

Please note that, contrary to our previous publicity, Matt Gamston will not now be able to be with us for the day as he is making a short visit to the Philippines.

There is a TOGO programme for primary school children from 2-4pm, run by Tirzah Jones of Day One youth and children’s ministries. This is in Room 1 on the first floor.

Annual Mission Day also means plenty of new resources, including the publication of our new Handbook and Annual Report. This year they come together as one publication with a new design and format. Make sure you get your copy.
